I Deleted My LinkedIn

Discover what happens when one professional ditches LinkedIn for a more authentic career connection.

Not deactivated. Deleted. The thirty-day grace period where they beg you to come back has expired, and whatever fossil record of my career existed there is now someone else's problem.

The interesting part is what it made me into for the two minutes a week I was there.

I'd open it and immediately start measuring. Am I doing enough? Everyone else is Building In Public and here I am building in a terminal with the wifi off. That low-grade dread isn't a bug in the product. It is the product. The site works because you feel slightly behind. If you ever felt fine, you'd close the tab.

So I closed the tab. A static site and an email address replaced the whole thing in an afternoon.

The work is still there. The clients are still there. The people who matter have my email.

Nobody has asked me if I agree with anything since.
